Summary:
Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.
My Review:
I've heard a lot of great reviews of this book, but I'm sorry to say, this book didn't really grab me. The cover is beautiful and everything. But it didn't really get me to want more.
I really loved how the author split the point of views though. But I thought that Perry's part in the beginning when he was with his, how do I say this, tribe, was boring. But, omg. I kinda thought Soren was hot. Even though he was bad news. And he lied about what happened.
This book reminded me of The Host by Stephenie Meyer. The main character ends up all stranded in a deserty place and has to walk through it to find civilization. Well, the first half of this book was all like that. And it was boring. All she did was walk, walk, and walk. But with Perry though.
So, I hate the first half, but I like the second. Not love.
The second half was so much better. There was actually something going on other then them trying to get somewhere. I loved Perry and Aria's romance. It was cute, but I don't know why, but a part of me didn't really want them together. I don't know, I'm just weird that way. I always don't like when the characters pick the guy I don't want them with.
I also love the idea of the Smarteye. I'd actually like to try one. They sound so different and cool. You can go to different realms and do what you want. It's like freedom in a lens. They say it's like a gel substance, but I think of them like contact lenses. Whenever I think of it looking all gel-ly, it looks disgusting to me.
Overall, I liked this. It was ok and I kinda want to read the sequel. We'll see when it comes out if it looks interesting! 3.5 Stars!
