Summary:

What if you knew when someone was going to die?
For seventeen-year-old Ember, life is death. With a simple touch, she knows when someone will die. It’s her curse and the reason she secludes herself from the world. The only person who knows her secret is her best friend Raven.
Then she meets Asher Morgan. He’s gorgeous, mysterious, and is the only person Ember can't sense death from. So when he pushes into her life, she doesn’t mind.
But when unexplained deaths start to haunt her town, Ember starts questioning why she can’t sense Asher's death and what he may be hiding.

My Review:

I actually really enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would, considering this is a book about death. This might be the best book I've read this month! I know I say that a lot, but since the month is almost over, it seems appropriate!

Okay, let's start in the beginning. When I first started reading it, I got a bit of a creepy vibe from her because she was in the cemetary. At night. Alone. In the dark. And then what's even worse is that she doesn't even care! To be honest, I thought she was crazy.

Let's get onto the good part though. The author did a really good job in details. I know I always talk about them, but a great book isn't great without them. I mean, you couldn't tell from what was real and what was fake! The author did foreshadow how everything would turn out, but you had to have had an amazing eye to spot it out. Once everything unraveled in the end, you find out what you missed.

What I liked the best, is the conflict between her and everything and everyone else. With her mom, with Raven, with Ian. Nobody really understood her and she holed herself up because of that. But we should talk about her dad first. I thought her dad was cool. He taught her how to steal cars and pick locks and he gave her good advice too, at least I think it was good. I thought it was sad what happened to him. I don't particularly like her mom. She outrageous. She's rude and it's like she doesn't even care about her at all. There was this one part in the book where she was nice, but only just because she took her medicine. That's the only reason why.

Plus, there's some good romance! Asher or Cameron? I'm still split between them. Asher is an overall good guy, but he's a bit scary looking for who he is. I actually do think that Cameron cares about her. Maybe not much, but enough to maybe feel guilty if anything happened to her. So I can't really choose between them yet! I'm waiting to see if the next books will be able to push me over the edge to one of them!

Overall, this was a really amazing book. I cannot wait until 2013 when the next book in the series comes out! This was really a great book. It would get a 5 Star, but I thought about it and I decided that there were some things I didn't really like in the book. So, 4.5 Stars.
